Today, we will review what we have learned this week.
Please review the goals and objectives before we start our lesson.
Goal: Students will demonstrate understanding of hardware, input and output devices, and software.
Objectives: Students will be able to evaluate computer hardware components when presented with a list.
Students will be able to contrast the features of input and output devices.
Students will be able to describe computer hardware, software, input, and output components with 90% accuracy.
To start today, we will share our drawings and writings about computer components with the class.
Because you have learned so much about computer components, we are going to play a guessing game. Before we begin, Ms. T. will point to different parts on the computer. It will be your job to shout out the name of the component she is pointing to.
Our game is called What Computer Component Am I? When your name is called, come to the front of the room and choose a slip of paper from the hat. It will have a computer hardware component written on it. It will be your job to describe the component to the class. Tell us what it looks like, what it does, and whether it is an input device, an output device, or neither, if it is internal hardware. Don't say the name of your component until someone guesses correctly. Then it will be someone else's turn to describe.
After everyone has had a turn, we will watch a video about computers by The Magic School Bus. See if you can spot some of things we talked about in class, and maybe some we haven't. Be ready to discuss the video and ask questions after we watch it.
Think about everything we have done this week. What did you like? What did you not like? Are you still confused about anything? Please be prepared to ask questions and discuss.
For homework, consider hardware, software, and other elements of computers and technology. Make a list of 5 things you would like to learn more about, and bring them to our next class.
